In 2012 DJI developed, announced and released the DJI Phantom 1. This release changed everything for DJI and some could say, for China as well. While the general consensus before this release was that companies in China were good at imitating innovation, they were not innovative themselves. DJI is changing this. DJI is the leader in UAV technology and is the company that everyone else copies. There are a few other competitors, like Yuneec, who are doing innovative things with quadcopters, but surprisingly, most of DJI’s competitors come from China and not from western companies.
