As the market for drones expands, there is one segment that adopts early and is eager to embrace this new technology. The market for children’s drones is ripe with opportunity but aside from some cheap toys, well built camera drones designed for the rough handling children can dish out are rare. Several manufacturers are working to reach the 16 year old and under market.
Miami-based Odyssey Toys newest products is the Pocket Drone, which debuted earlier this year and began shipping to Sharper Image and Brookstone stores in May for around $130 US dollars. The drone’s motorized arms can be folded up so that the device fits inside a pocket and features a 1280×720-pixel HD camera that films footage on a memory card within the device. Odyssey Toys intends to make drones that are focused on a young demographic and are differentiated by their look, build and functionality.
