There have been news articles about property owners shooting down drones out of the sky if they perceive the drone to be flying over their private property. While flying over private property is not a good piloting practice, shooting drones out of the sky is both dangerous and illegal. Stray bullets kill hundreds of people every year and the chance of being hit by a falling drone is also very real.
