While fully functional and operational autonomous road vehicles are still a few years from coming into service, UAV manufacturer eHang is developing the first “drone taxi”. This vehicle will be capable of carrying a passenger for up to 23 minutes from point to point with a few clicks to set up a flight plan on a tablet or mobile phone. The idea is that people in congested areas can fly above the congestion and arrive quickly and safely at their destination. eHang announced the eHang 184 at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas a few months ago.
