Scientists have been using wind tunnels to study the flight of birds for decades. Today, they are using that information gathered to improve the aerodynamics of drones and other UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles). Using high speed cameras to capture the physical motion of the birds, researchers have discovered many interesting characteristics about the flight of certain birds. The insight from this research is slated to be used in rescue and public service drones and aircraft first.
