Surfing competitions, busy beach holidays and resorts are all places that enjoy the beach and the ocean, but more and more the need to watch out for sharks is becoming a factor. Some groups are beginning to use drones to patrol the skies and look for sharks in these busy locations. The drones are equipped with HD cameras that stream a signal back to the lifeguards and allow them to clear the water if they spot danger.
“Drone technology has advanced significantly in recent years and it makes sense to test if it can be used effectively to make our beaches safer,” according to Australia Fisheries Minister, Joe Francis.
