The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has developed a system that let you customize your own drone. The system allows you to customize the size, shape, colors, and other specifications of a drone from a template and then actually create that drone based on those specifications.
“To our knowledge, this the first system that allows non-experts to design and build their own custom drone,” said PhD student Tao Du, one of the MIT research team. “The interface allows you to enter your specific needs for things like payload, cost, and battery usage, and the system then creates a novel size, shape and structure for the drone that ensures that it is functional and fabricable.”
The idea is to make drone design more interactive and customized to meet consumers needs. To learn more, check out this article.
