In Jacksonville, Florida, a company called Drone Aviation is building high-end UAVs for a variety of different applications. Drone Aviation’s custom built aircraft cost between $50,000 and $350,000 each. These drones are designed specifically for high-end use for military, public safety and industrial applications. In addition to the propeller drones that carry cameras for surveillance and observation, Drone Aviation also manufactures aerostats, which are small blimps filled with helium and are around 18 feet wide. The other unique thing about Drone Aviation’s UAVs is that they are tethered, which allows them to stay safely in the air much longer than non-tethered UAVs.
