Growing Drones Using Chemistry

Drone Grown in Vat

To design and build a drone today takes thousands of man hours as well as complicated engineering and manufacturing techniques. However, if BAE, the British aerospace defense company has their way, we may someday be able to grow unmanned aerial vehicles in vats of chemicals using a process called “chemputing”. This process uses chemicals with electronics embedded in the body of the aircraft. While the process seems very futuristic and far-fetched, the same could have been said for 3D printing a few years ago.
